Here is a visual step by step photo guide for how to make bread. Once you have made your own bread, you know how easy it is!
...and how delicious flax bread and this homemade bread recipe is!
To Make the Dough:
Mix together:
2 cups lukewarm water
1-2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 Tablespoons butter
Be sure the mixture is not too hot, then add
2 Tablespoons yeast
-sprinkle on top and let the sugar start to work on the yeast for about 3 mins when it starts to look bubbly.
Add to the mixture:
2 eggs
Then slowly add, while still mixing:
3/4 cup Flakes o' Gold or Ground Premium Gold Flaxseed
1 cup of flour at a time until the goal of 3 1/2 to 5 cups of all purpose flour
1. Kneed the dough (folding it over itself and just mixing it well) for about 60 times -more is better to help the yeast be mixed throughout and start working on the dough.
* The key to great dough is: You want your dough to be sticky.
2. Then let it rise for about 30 mins -1hr or until double in size.
3. When this is done, punch the dough down, and kneed about 30 times.
Step 1. Heat up 2 cups water to luke warm -it should feel warm to the touch -not too hot because then it can kill the yeast.
Add 2 tablespoons of sugar.
Step 2. Add 3 Tablespoons butter or oil (this is a great time to melt the butter and dissolve the the salt).
Step 3. Sprinkle 2 Tablespoons or 2 packets of Active Yeast
Step 4. Add 2 eggs
Step 5. Mix everything together
Step 6. Add 3/4 cup Flakes o' Gold or Ground Premium Gold Flaxseed
Step 7. Add 1 cup of flour at a time -(stir after you add each cup of flour) until the goal of 3 1/2 to 5 cups of all purpose flour
Step 8. Mix with a spoon until it is too doughy to mix anymore ... now you get to use your hands! :)
Step 9. Time to have fun and get your hands sticky! :) This part is important to making great bread that will rise well.
You don't have to go crazy with kneading -just folding the bread over on top of itself and squishing it together is all you need to do!
Step 10. I like to knead the dough about 40-60 times -approximately 1-2 mins -not that long!
It is a good workout for the hands and great if you are stressed about something -take it out on that dough! :)
Step 11. You can knead bread in a kitchen aid if you have one... but if you don't, don't be intimidating by the kneading process... it really is easy and quick... just a little sticky!
Step 12. Here is my secret to the Most Delicious Bread: Sticky Dough! Seriously... if you add too much flour, it will be very dry. Now, you don't want it super wet... just very sticky.
It should easily form a ball and hold it's shape, but when you are working with it + kneading it, it should be VERY sticky! -see the photo for how sticky it is!
Sshhhhh, don't tell! Now you know how to make this flax bread recipe... Absolutely delicious bread with this homemade bread recipe.
Step 13. Roll bread into a ball and lightly coat with with oil and allow to sit in a warm spot near the stove or oven -if possible.
Step 14. Allow to rise for about 30 mins - 1 hour or double in size!
Step 15. Punch the dough down and quickly mix / knead it to it's oringinal size
Step 16. Make it easier to handle the dough:
Oil the pans and keep extra oil on your hands to prepare the dough... -whether it is bread rolls, bread, cinnamon rolls, etc...
Step 17. Form the dough into a loaf of bread -only fill the bread pan 1/3 of the way -the yeast will do the rest!
Step 18. Allow the dough to rise to almost full size and then place it in the oven to cook to perfection!
Preheat oven to 325°F.
Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown around edges depending on your oven!
Cool on the pan for about 3 mins and then place bread loaves onto plate to finish cooling.
Store in a airtight container and in the fridge since there are no preservatives in this delicious homemade bread!
This is the easy visual guide for how to make bread. Now you know there is nothing like homemade bread!
It cannot even come close to comparing to store bought bread!
